A Spambot is an automated script, of a type sometimes called a Web Crawler, or Spider that "crawls" through the World Wide Web looking for e-mail addresses. The Spambot then sends the e-mail address back to Spammers, (arguably one of the lowest forms of life on the planet!), who then send out Spam, unsolicited e-mail, to all the addresses the Spambot collected, or "harvested". It is not hard anymore to block most Spam from getting into your e-mail Inbox but some will inevitably get in sometimes.

There are more sophisticated and complicated Spambots which infect Forums like the ones on this site. Some will post messages just like a human would, if the human has gone through the process of signing up for the Forum. Some will not post a message but will include their websites in their "Profiles" so that anyone who clicks on the profile will have the opportunity to click on the spammer's website. They are able to do this because the human parasites (a.k.a Spammers) who write these computer scripts, have 'taught" the Spambot how to get through security measures put up by the Forum administrators. The administrators of forums can set different levels of security measures to try to stop Spambots from automatically signing up for a forum but each restriction makes it harder for real people to sign up too! Al Legator does all he can to root out and delete such garbage from this site, but he can't monitor it 24/7. I don't know how effective it really is but it warms the cockles of old Al Legator's heart to know that at least some of the Spambots are "falling" over an electronic cliff, to be trapped by that site.
